Safety Notice SN021– 12V Outlet Wiring Correction
An issue has been recognized in the wiring harness and instructions provided for wiring Safari helicopters. The following modification will prevent loss of power to the instrument panel in the event of an overload from the 12v outlet.
Before proceeding, disconnect the battery to prevent injury.
Remove the hot wire from the rear of the 12v outlet, and terminate it. Replace it with a length of 16ga wire, and run that wire through a 25 amp breaker to the power distribution bar on the solenoid board. Aircraft Spruce offers a 25 amp Klixon breaker part number 11-08396 that will protect the instrument panel from unexpected power loss. An in-line fuse will work as well.
