Upgraded Over Running Sprag – August 2014

In September, 2011, CHR International Inc. began installing grease fittings into the outer race of the sprag because there was no mechanism to service the sprag. Dry sprags were overheating and deforming. As you know, this is a significant issue.
In February, 2014 the design of the outer and inner races was modified to accommodate a much more robust sprag. After testing and refining, this design was adopted. The aim was to increase the strength and durability of the sprag, while replacing as few parts as possible. The races are now being manufactured at the factory in Marianna to assure the highest level of quality and fit.

The upgrade replaces the entire clutch assembly, since this can be replaced in the field by any qualified mechanic without disturbing the track and balance of the rotor head. The upgrade unit is priced at $3,480 USD, not including installation labor or shipping.
