Gas Cap Venting – SN008
There have been two known instances of engine shutdown resulting from fuel starvation. In both cases, the gas caps appeared to provide insufficient or no venting.
The gas caps provided with SAFARI Kits are of the vented variety; however, we recommend that you double check that they are functioning properly. Gas caps are not precisely engineered items of equipment, and should be inspected closely. If you observe a release of pressure when opening the caps of your fuel tanks, the caps are not venting as they should. We recommend that you make testing the functionality of the cap a part of your pre-flight inspection.
