Here are a few pictures of the latest Safari “optional equipment”…the Safari Golf Ball Dropper.   The local Medical Center foundation recently had their annual golf outing (they have different events to collect money for the Hospital).Last year they had a “golf ball drop” and it resulted in a good bit of money collected for the foundation.  The helicopter operator charged for his time last year and this year he wanted about $900 to do it again.  Someone
knew someone who knew someone and I got a phone call.  *Safari to the rescue*.
The guy last year used a Robinson…had to made three lifts and had a problem getting anywhere close to the pin.  I decided that if I was going to put our name out there I had to at least beat the Robinson. The easiest way to drop the golf balls is to put someone in the passenger seat with a bucket of 250 golf balls, fly over the green and toss them out. I wanted to do it solo so I could do a 200’ OGE hover over the pin and I didn’t really want anyone with me since that is pretty much in the center of the dead-man’s curve.

Anyway, long story short, everything worked out great.  I donated the helicopter time…only missed the pin by 8 feet (the wind kept changing directions…really, it did…I have witnesses…I’m sticking with that story) and that beat the Robinson by a long way.

This year’s official event photographer didn’t have a clue as to how to get a picture of golf balls coming out of a helicopter.  Alisa took the attached pictures during a practice run at home.
